She’s Mulling It Over Wine

  • 2 bottles merlot or dry red wine of your choice
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 large orange, sliced
  • 1- 8” square double-layered cheesecloth
  • 2 cinnamon sticks broken in half
  • 8 whole cloves


  • Combine wine, sugar, and water in slow cooker
  • Rinse cheesecloth, squeeze out water
  • Wrap cinnamon sticks and cloves in cheesecloth, tie securely and place in slow cooker
  • Add orange slices to wine and spice mix
  • Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 to 2 ½ hours
  • Discard spice bag
  • Ladle into mugs and serve


Since this recipe adds some spice, save your expensive vintage wine for another occasion. Your grocery-store variety will do just fine.
Keep the lid on the cooker closed the entire time. Stand back when opening the lid – the steam will be hot!
