Mary Returns to Coney Island!

As is tradition, the Hot Dog Eating Champions of the world will be crowned this coming July 4th, 2023, at the original Nathan’s Famous, located at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in sunny Coney Island, in beautiful Brooklyn, NY.

This will mark Mary Bowers’ eighth attempt at the pink mustard belt and her first as an athlete representing the Republic of Korea. Competitive eating history will be made as she becomes the first eater ever to carry the 태극기 (Taegukgi) to the MLE table.

An estimated 35,000 fans have made the pilgrimage to the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island each year to watch the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog-Eating Contest in person.

The event will take place on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, from 11am to 1pm at 1310 Surf Avenue. Pre-show festivities will begin at 10 am with musical and dance performances. The women’s competition begins at 11 am, while the men’s competition will start at 12:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public .
